Who gives a Blog
Posted On 02/21/2008 08:27:36
You can give a Blog and start networking today.

Blog writing tips...
 1) Blogs work best if they ask questions and are not advertisements.  Advertisements are better placed in the Classified sections or as comments in your online profile or website.  For example: Write a blog that will uncover a consumer need.  If you are a local business that provides exceptional customer service you might write a Blog about a bad experience you had with a larger national company using an automated phone service instead of a live person.  This will peak the readers interest and help to attract comments and conversation that will ultimately lead to relationship building and sales.  That's networking! 2) Use Controversial (be tasteful), Exciting or Catchy Headlines. Write a headline that will get the readers attention. Write a headline that is the opposite of your stance or in an obviously sarcastic manner. Make a bold statement or ask a question that demands a comment.  Make the reader think and try to evoke an emotion! 3) Keep Posts Short. Blog readers have very short attention spans. 250 words are plenty. 4) End Blog Posts with Questions. Make the question as specific as possible. “What do you think?”  “If you’ve got an opinion I want to here it” 5) Save your Blog content for use in your other marketing materials and efforts. Happy networking!

Today is International Delete Your MySpace Account
Posted On 01/30/2008 16:35:56

Myspace: It's the site that everybody loves to hate... and yet, who doesn't have an account there?

In response to Myspace's ugly ubiquity, blogger Simon Owens cheekily declared January 30 to be International Delete Your Myspace Account Day, and the movement has legs. Why, I'm sure dozens of people will log on to formally abandon their stale, heinously ugly Myspace pages today, for a variety of reasons. I find myself agreeing with Owens' assessment of the site in his top 10 reasons to quit the site. Primarily, his first: The only reason I ever login any more is to delete spam friend requests. I use LinkedIn and Facebook pretty much exclusively now.

Of course, Myspace has also been implicated in some pretty nasty news stories of late, too.

While I doubt International Delete Your Myspace Account Day will have much of a profound effect on the behemoth website, which now boasts over 200 million members, it is at least instructive about the dangers and headaches of signing up for every site under the sun, only to later have to undo it all. Getting out of Myspace isn't all that easy, either. Fortunately, Owens offers step by step instructions on how to do it here.

As for me, nah, I'm leaving my page intact. Partly because I need it for periodic stories I write about Myspace. Partly because cancelling the languishing account just isn't worth the trouble. The only thing worse than Myspace, it seems, is trying to leave it. Blog by Christopher Null http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/66743;_ylt=AuYOXg2NvUsy0dsluXT4E00rLpA5
